Felipe Teixeira
Dancer and visual artist, Felipe Teixeira began his research in theatrical performance in Sao Paulo, Brasil. In 2002 he graduated at the "Teatro Escola Macunaíma" and started working with theater and cinema artists from companies such as "Confraria da Paixão" (with Luiz Monteiro) and "Perambulantes" (with Eduardo de Paula). Felipe also studied with Fatima Toledo . In 2004 he began his research in street dance and one year later worked with Mark Van Loo’s dance company "Bombelêla de Street Dance".
Felipe started to gain interest in contemporary dance in 2006, continuing his studies with Andrea Pivatto, Mirian Druwe, Roberto dos Santos, Robson Lourenço, Mariana Muniz, Adriana Grechi, Claudia Palma, Lourenço Homem, Clarice Lima, Flavio Lima and Ana Terra. Dedicating himself to refine the technique of pursuing the identity of the performer and not a colonised body. He studied different techniques: Release, Limón, View Points, MBC, Flying Low, Passing Through and Parkour.
Together with the artist Julia Borst, Felipe founded the contemporary art collective "Onze:Quatorze". He participated in the exhibition "LIFE on LINE of LIFE" at Galeria Olido in 2010, organized by Martha Gabriel, with the video Samsa Inc.. He became a member of the contemporary dance company "Insaio", directed by Claudia Palma and participated on the assembly of Lugar Algum (8th Edition of the Municipal Support Program for Dance of Sao Paulo).
Felipe was invited by Rafaële Giovanola (from the german company "CocoonDance") to create and play a new character in "Orlando Remix 2011" - a reassembling of the piece "Orlando". In 2012, he participated and collaborated with a choreography at the assembly of Cálamo, with "Insaio", participated in the exhibitions "Cidades Contínuas" with the video "Silêncio", "Quando a Linha Encontra o Ponto" with the video "WC" at Garcia Gallery and in the international video exhibition "Dança em Foco" with the video "Prólogo".
Felipe was invited to choreograph contemporary dance performances on the streets of Sao Paulo and to assemble a sequence of videos with the project "Epifanias Urbanas" (awarded at Prêmio Funarte de Dance Klauss Vianna), which brought together big names of the contemporary dance scene in Brazil, such as Morena Nascimento, Michelle Navarro, Carlos Canhameiro, etc.
Currently, Felipe Teixeira is working, with Claudia Palma, on "Darkroom" with "Insaio".
